             Geocentric vs Heliocentric

The study of everything about universe is called astronomy.  As a result of Ptolemy, an astronomer, he invented the geocentric model. He believed that each planet orbited around the Earth. Geocentric model is a model of the solar system that has the earth is in the center and everything goes around it. Until the 16th century, everyone believed this. Nicolas Copernicus was a Polish astronomer who believed that the earth and other planets revolved around the sun. This theory was called heliocentric theory.  Heliocentric model is a model of the solar system that has the sun is in the center and everything goes around it. Galileo Galilee was an astronomer who invented the telescope and changed our understanding of the universe. He supported the Copernicus theory and he was rejected the Ptolemy theory. He believed of the heliocentric model is a theory which has the sun in the center and the earth goes around the sun and these takes 365 days and this process called revolution. The movement of one body around another; such the earth in its orbits around the sun. Galileo Galilee he was forced to say that the heliocentric model was wrong. He was arrested by the Catholic Church.  After his death, most of his ideas were proven correct including the heliocentric model.
